| Seyani
Brothers & Co. is a family Business.
Parbat
B.P. Siyani, Managing Director of Seyani Brothers
& Co. (U) Ltd. has been brought up in the building
industry. “This is an Indian family Company,”
he says. “Forty five years ago my father went
to Kenya to go into construction. The whole family
has been in construction since the 1940’s. Over
the last nine years we have become the leading building
and civil engineering contractor in Uganda.”

| The
company has grown into a U.S. $ 6 million enterprise, completing
an impressive number of projects. It built the Lincoln International
School, an American initiative requiring a U.S. $3.5 million
investment; the luxurious Paraa Safari Lodge in the Murchison
Falls National Park; as well as two projects for the British
government. Major clients remain corporate investors and foreign-aided
projects; although Seyani Brothers & Co. intends to expand
further to expand further into the construction of apartments
as a joint developer.
Siyani
himself is keen to see further American investment. “The
environment and climate of Uganda is perfect for potential
US investors,” he says, adding, “Investors should
put their heart in the country. They first have to come
– the rest will follow.”
Siyani
describes attractive opportunities in agriculture, tourism,
mining, power and construction. “In agriculture, Seyani
Brothers & Co. owns 400 acres of land that can be very
interesting for an investor in coffee, tea, vegetable oil
or herbal plants for cosmetics,” he says. “In
tourism, we have a peninsula for sale at Victoria Lake –
connected by water to Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda which is
a perfect spot for activities like golf and boating. Uganda
exports power to Kenya, and there is much more potential
in the energy sector. U.S investors can do more in the construction
business, with housing estates.”
Emphasizing
that local knowledge is important, Siyani offers his services.
“I want to be a fortune runner for investors, “he
says. “If someone is interested, I am always open
for inquiries. They can always approach me for advice.”
Describing
the country as “God –given”, Siyani concludes:
“Uganda has enormous treasures and great potential
in agriculture, tourism and mining. The world should explore
and take the opportunity to invest in her.”
